YOUTH IN AGRICULTURE: AQUACULTURE TRAINING HELD AT OLD DABOASE JUNCTION

As part of ongoing efforts to promote youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods, an Aquaculture Training Programme was held at Old Daboase Junction in the Shama District under the Youth in Agriculture initiative, with the supervision of Hon. Paul Otis Dentu.

The training was designed to equip young people with practical knowledge and hands-on skills in fish farming and modern aquaculture management. It seeks to encourage the youth to view agriculture not only as a source of food, but also as a viable business and employment opportunity.

Participants were introduced to modern aquaculture practices, responsible fish production techniques and the opportunities available across the aquaculture value chain. The initiative is expected to help young people develop sustainable sources of income, while contributing to food security, job creation and local economic development.

The programme demonstrates a commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for the youth and supporting them to become self-reliant, productive and active contributors to the socio-economic development of the Shama District.
