COST And Shama District Assembly Organized Social Accountability Programme
CoST, in collaboration with the Shama District Assembly, hosted a social accountability programme on September 12, 2024, to examine the results of the Community Development Citizen Monitoring Team’s (CDCMT) activities at Komfueku Health Center. The CoST Sekondi-Takoradi Foundation is a non-governmental organization that runs a global campaign to promote openness, accountability, and value for money in public infrastructure projects.
Aziz Mahmoud, the CoST MEAL Officer, provided background information about the CoST foundation during the meeting. He stated that it was established in 2019 and became a registered non-profit organization in 2020. He went on to say that the foundation’s primary goal is to encourage the disclosure, validation, and use of infrastructure data, and that it is currently concentrating its efforts in Ghana’s Western Region.
Perpertual Amoah Takyi, the CDCMT Secretary also made a presentation, and in her presentation, she stated that the aim of constituting the committee was to evaluate the effective operationalization of the Komfueku health centre, its impact on the community, health outcomes, and adherence to quality standards. She continued to mention that the project objective is to provide befitting health facilities and increase health care within Komfueku and its neighboring communities.
Also, she touched on the project overview, audit methodology and tool used, audit findings, recommendation and action plan for the committee.
