Farm Demonstration On Cabbage At Antseambua by Department Of Agriculture -Shama
This demonstration was done to promote planting in rows and lines, good nursery practice, good agronomic practice, and to introduce crop in the area. In June, 2021 cabbage was nurse and transplanted at Antseambua with collaborate farmer Esther Ansah. One field day is organized to showcase technologies.
ACTIVITIES CARRYOUT ON FIELD DAY
- Importance of nursing crops before transplanting
- Using wood savings or saw dust as mulching material
- Importance of mulching
- Planting vegetables in rows and its effects
- Controlling of weeds and pests in vegetable production.
- Varieties of cabbage available in the market
- Fertilization of nursery bed and vegetable plant
In all farmer’s participation was excellent and they encourage for more programs like that should be organize.

They total number of farmers present on the field day is 18 with 10 females and 8 males. Below is a table showing details;

CHALLENGES
- Bad rainfall has increase cost production since manual watering is required.
Farmers are recommending for more demonstration should be done to help them adopt new ways of farming. A total of 5 farmers, 3 females and 2 males adopted to using wood savings as mulching materials in nursery management.
