Shama MCE Leads Strategic Visit to Agribusinesses to Propel Agricultural Transformation

In a decisive move to accelerate agricultural development and economic transformation in the Shama Municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Paul Otis Dentu, together with a team from the Assembly, has embarked on a working visit to selected agribusiness ventures within the district.

The visit forms part of the MCE’s broader vision to harness the full potential of the agricultural sector as a pillar of local economic growth, job creation, and food security.

A key highlight of the visit was a tour of Mayapee Farms, a fast-growing agribusiness enterprise located at Bronikrom. The farm spans over 500 acres and operates across multiple sectors including aquaculture, livestock rearing, and the cultivation of staple crops. With a bold vision to not only feed the Shama district but also position itself as an exporter of agricultural products, Mayapee Farms is fast becoming a model of agro-industrial excellence in the region.

The MCE and his delegation were conducted around the facility and engaged with management on operations, challenges, and prospects. Hon. Paul Otis Dentu commended the leadership of Mayapee Farms for their commitment to modern agribusiness practices and for supporting the municipality’s vision of sustainable development.

“This visit is a testament to our resolve to support homegrown initiatives that create jobs and add value to our local economy. Mayapee Farms exemplifies the kind of innovation and ambition we want to see across the municipality,” Hon. Dentu noted.

The MCE further assured the team of the Assembly’s willingness to provide necessary support, including technical guidance and facilitating access to relevant government interventions.

This visit marks a renewed partnership between the Assembly and the private agribusiness sector, positioning Shama as a rising hub for agricultural investment in Ghana’s Western Region.
