Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Western Regional Executives Pay Courtesy Call on Shama MCE

The Western Regional Executives of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) have paid a courtesy call on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Shama Municipal Assembly as part of their efforts to deepen collaboration with key stakeholders to foster local and national development.

The meeting served as a platform for both parties to discuss potential areas of cooperation aimed at promoting industrial growth, improving the local business environment, and enhancing the general socio-economic development of the district and the country at large.

In his welcome address, the MCE expressed his appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Assembly’s readiness to partner with the private sector. “The Assembly is ever ready for business,” he said, emphasizing the need for mutual engagement. He encouraged the Association to submit a list of its members operating within the district to facilitate direct collaboration. He further pledged to advocate for more businesses in the district to join the AGI, stating that such affiliation would enhance collective industrial growth.

The AGI Western Regional Chairman highlighted the Association’s key roles in advocating for the interests of its members and driving national economic development. He noted that AGI plays a crucial part in policy dialogue and supports a conducive business environment for industries across the country.

During the interaction, the Secretary of the Association also raised some concerns affecting members. These included the lack of prior stakeholder engagement before the implementation of fee-fixing resolutions, limited access to industrial zones due to poor road infrastructure, and delays in certain regulatory processes which affect business operations.

The Municipal Coordinating Director acknowledged the concerns and emphasized the Assembly’s willingness to work closely with the Association to address them. He commended AGI’s contribution to local development and stressed the importance of continuous dialogue and partnership.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment from both sides to strengthen collaboration, resolve key industrial challenges, and promote sustainable development within the Shama Municipality.
