Distribution of rice and oil to Fisher-folks in Shama District
The Ministry for Fisheries and Aquaculture development in collaboration with the Shama District Assembly has donated 600 bags of rice and 252 packs of oil to Fisher Folks in Shama District vaginosisbacteriana.org to cushion the burden of the Fisher Folks as they observe the one month closed season.
The DCE Hon Ebenezer Dadzie who donated the items on behalf of the government on Thursday July 21, 2022 at the landing beaches in Shama, Amenano, Aboaze, Abuesi,Awona beach said the minstry for that Matter the governent was grateful for the level of compliance from the Fishermen in the country and thus the need to show some support and hope the objective for the implementation of the closed season would be achieved.
He therefore asked the Fishermen to stop the illegal fishing activities which is distroying the fishing industry and urged them to use the right method in fishing.
He pleaded with the ministry to supply them with premix fuel frequently since fishing is their only source of livelihoodthat.
The Deputy Minister for fisheries Mr. Moses Anim said the ministry is going digital hence very soon Fisher men will be given card and all the landing beaches will be provided with digitized machine which would be used to curb the irregularities during distribution of premix.
