Registration Of Food Vendors And Medical Screening at Shama District
Registration of Food Vendors and School Feeding Caterers was organized this year which one thousand four hundred and sixteen (1,416) were registered and one thousand one hundred and eighty-five (1,185) were medically screened representing 83.6%. This comprise of one thousand one hundred and five (1,105) food and drink sellers and eighty (80) School Feeding Workers who were certified fit to prepare, handle and sell food to the public and also prepare food for school children respectively. Five people were detected with typhoid fever and were treated and discharged.
Targeted persons include;
- Staff on School Feeding Programme
- Chop bar operators
- Restaurants
- Canteens
- Drinking bars
- Sachet / bottled water sellers and producers
- Hawkers of food items
The Vendors were educated to be mindful of the sanitary rules and regulations and keep their environment clean. They were asked to take personal hygiene seriously. They were also asked not to keep sick person especially with communicable disease in the food premises. The vendors were advised to keep their kitchens, eating places, stores and plates clean and neat.
