Evacuation and Pushing of Refuse Heaps by the Shama District Assembly

One of the core mandates of District Assemblies is the management of waste generation in its communities, that is, collection refuse, pushing and evacuation of refuse heaps in its jurisdiction. As such, the Shama District Assembly had undertaken pushing of refuse heaps at Beposo, Komfueku, Dwomo, Aboaze, Anto, and Shama Apo in this year.

In collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited and Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, two (2) 20 years old aged refuse heaps were evacuated at Aboadze and Inchaban communities in the district. The exercise is to prevent outbreak of diseases in the communities and to maintain clean and serene environment.

Residents were educated on proper waste management. They were sensitized on pay – as-you – dump policy which is being introduced in the district.
